Alliance2015 has just published its fifth 2015-Watch. This year’s report addresses the question of whether Europe is on track to fulfil its MDG commitments. It analyses in considerable detail the extent to which the programming of European Commission (EC) aid is directed towards the achievement of the MDGs, and it finds a strong legal and policy framework, but much to be done on programming and implementation, report Birgit Dederichs-Bain and Olive Towey. |

The report, The EU’s contribution to the Millennium Development Goals - Poverty Eradication: From Rhetoric to Results?, is released at a crucial time in follow up to the Accra High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (2-4 September) and in advance of the UN MDG Summit in New York (25 September). At the High Level Forum in Accra too, Europe drove an ambitious agenda for change and provided clear leadership in efforts to make global aid more effective. The UN Summit will review progress towards meeting the MDGs by 2015 and the importance of demonstrating European progress and impact in this context and beyond is undeniable ... |
